Why is "CDC Safe" displayed on my CCR2006 ?

The CD section of the CCR2006 in my Vauxhall Omega displays CDC Safe when the CD player is selected. It started doing this when the magazine was reloaded ( as it has been 100 times before ) and I cannot clear it. I have re-entered the radio code but this hasn't cleared it. Help.

The firmware in the EEPROM chip has been corrupted...

One of the most common failures of this unit is the error message "CDC SAFE"

There is a common software fault where the normally uncoded integrated CD Changer will decide to ask for a code, and as there is no method for CD code entry on this model, the Changer will simply lock up and display the error message of "CDC SAFE".

As a quick diagnosis, all Tuner and Cassette operations should function as normal. If the CD button is pressed with a CD inside, the error message of "CDC SAFE" will be displayed and if the eject button is pressed, the cartridge should eject without any problems.
