My freezer will only work on fast freeze, how can I replace the thermostat?

I have a Whirlpool freezer which seems to be malfunctioning. The warning light does not go on but the contents seem to be defrosting. If I put the fast freeze on everything goes down to the correct temperature. Is it possible to replace the thermostat as this seems to be the most likely cause of the failure?

The whirlpool freezer is an upright AFB433/G model. On fast freeze it just freezes everything solid, but if I switch off the fast freeze the temperature just keeps dropping even with the setting at maximum and the warning light for the temperature does not come on and food starts defrosting.
