I have an old sony walkman wm-2055 and its about 19 years old. The belt must be stretched because tapes play faster than normal. I tried replacing it with other belts from other walkmen but since they were not capable of reversible side play (plays sides back to back), the belts were about half the size required. I would really appreciate if someone could tell me where to obtain one of these for cheap or if its possibly another problem. Thanks

i have the same model and experienced the same problem, after having abandoned it for years. but after a little playing, the problem seemed to correct itself.

may not be belt but speed control....look for a small screw adjuster on the circuit board and ensure you use something non metal to alter it. turn all the way to left then all way to right a few times then adjust for correct speed. could have slipped with time. if belt is not brittle and snaps onto the two capstan drive wheels with a little tension the belt is fine.
