How do I burn DVDs?

Is there a prog I need to enable me to burn DVDs? Iv tried nero but cant get it to work?? I have a dell 5100 with windows xp.

The front of your DVD drive should indicate its capabilities - possibly etched into the drawer.

You didn't mention what version of Nero you were using. Some releases were designed to work with one particular model of CD or DVD burner and thus creates the need to buy a newer version on drive change. This was very widespread with V6 and OEM versions.

Version 7 Ultra Edition is excellent (if not over-complicated compared with earlier versions) and available from eBay for a few pounds. It will tell you what your drive is capable of.

Check the burner instructions to see the ones that it use,
DVD + R or DVD - R.
