sony 42" lcd rear projection tv?

my 42" sony lcd rear projection tv switches itself off and on costantly. any ideas what is causing this and how to fix it?

I was working at a house where this kept happening. (Scared us to death each time it blasted on!) It turned out to be a problem with the remote control batteries. Maybe your problem is there also.
