upvc door lock will only release from door handle upwards,mushroom bolt and hook below this point wont release so door wont open.

My daugther had same problem the door lock would not release. £100 for locksmith who came in and pushed hard on the handle and down it went releasing the edge latches.

It's said you should oil these door locks twice a year at least with WD40.
