How do I set the timing on vw 1.9 turbo diesel T4 Panel van?

Cam belt went , have tried to fit new belt I think I have lined up the diesel pump (mark on pulley and block) Have adjusted cam shart with no1 piston at TDC, but I just cant find any marks on the flywheel, viewed through the hole on top of the bellhousing to set the timing ????

The timing marks on my 2.5TDi (ACV engine) are very subtle and take the form of a '0' with a line through it. It can be difficult to find looking through the bell housing aperture. Don't forget that the pump only lines up every second crank revolution.

If you get an assistant to turn the crank, look carefully for the timing marks with a bright light with your head down near the aperture.
