How can I stop the pilot light on my Baxi boiler 401 from going out?

I have got the pilot light lit okay but then when i let go of the gas button (after 30 seconds or so) the light goes straight out again. \this means that the boiler is not firing up for the heating and the water!!
Any ideas?
Is it the pressure? Is there a gauge for this on these older boliers?

sounds like the thermocouple has gone ! This is the small "phial" on the r/hand side of the plate holding the pilot assembly, with a thin copper coiled pipe attached. They cost about £4.00 and take about 30 mins to change. But you should use a corgi installer to do the job, Good luck. Rich.

baxi 401 is a bermuda. this is not a combi boiler so does not have a pressure gauge. sounds like you need a new thermocouple.
