hi have just moved into an old house with a back boiler and storage tank. not getting any hot water and when calling for heat on central heating fires up for about 15 secs then cuts out. rads not getting hot. any help appreciated

Would check your pump. If the system has lain idle for a while, the pump could seize. If you have left the system switched on for a while the motor will be damaged . Pumps are not expensive and easy to fit. Also check if any motorised valves
fitted and do they open?
