my tv needs to be demagnetised but i want to do it myself. goodmans 28 inch?

my little boy found amagnet and put it on the screen of my tv and now it has green patches how can i get rid of them by myself without taking it to a repair shop

I agree with cobweb but suggest that for the next few days (weeks?) you turn the TV off at the mains rather than put it into standby as degaussing usually only occurs when a full power on occurs.

hi there you can either use another magnet that caused the fault in the first place by running the magnet round yhe screen in a curcular fasion but the opposite pole north or south or buy a soldering gun not irion turn on and run it over the screen from the centre outwards the cost of the gun is peanuts compard to the price of taking it to a shop remember to perchaced s a soldering gun not a soldering iron as the iron will not act as an electromagnet

Just use the TV normally and it will most likely do the job automatically, since all crt tv's have integrated degaussing circuits.

This process takes place at switch on before the picture appears but attempting to speed up the process by switching on/off repeatedly won't help. Just use the TV as normal and within a few days the impurity should clear.
