I can REW/FF the tape, but cannot play. After an unsuccessful play attempt, the casette is getting stuck. Although I have been able to retrieve the casette out without damaging the tape. Tape comes out in an unspooled format. Any tips to fix this problem would be highly appreciated

If the tape is catching on the loading arms, replace the soft brake (it rests against the capstan flywheel).
Possibly slipped a gear or have faulty mode switch. In each case, needs mode switch and realignment of the mechanism.
