how do I get my 444 sink erator to work? It seems jammed?

It seems jammed, yet when I put my hand in, there's hardly anything there that I can reach. It just 'whirrs' away, but won't grind. Is there a reset button somewhere?
Thanks.

THIS fix works PERFECTLY! Must say, whatever the reviews of this unit, that allen key is a nice feature! Talk about simple fix. Fully seized, to fully functional, in under 60 seconds.

My 444 sink erator was experiencing the same issues. Not having the manual (as I didn't originally purchase the device), this website thread helped me solve the issue.
Simple steps:
1) Press red reset button on bottom of device
2) Use a 1/4 allen wrench and turn back and forth (I went +/-45 degrees a couple of times)
3) While running some water through, turn on the unit.
The beauty of the internet -- fixed within two minutes of having the issue. Thanks for the help.

Thank you very much. This instruction did work. I fixed it by using the allen key.

The allen wrench worked for me. Half a turn and then started it up. I ran some ice cubes through there to clean the blades and now it purrs like a kitten. Thanks for the solution!

If it's humming, there's probably something stuck even if you can't find it. In the center of the bottom of the unit, insert an allen wrench (or the tool that came with it) and turn back and forth - this will loosen whatever the object(s) is(are). You'll feel some resistance when you turn past the obstruction. At that point, use tongs or pliers to clear out the object.

In my case, there were two small nails and a decent sized piece of plastic. It took 3 iterations to get it all out. After the first, the disposal started going again, but it was obvious from the sound that there was more still there.

reset button on bottom of unit, small red, but if whirrs or hums does not need reset, hum is jam, unit came with hex wrench that will fit in center base of unit if motor is free blade disc has separated from motor shaft, replace unit
