How do I get the top off a Hotpoint WD860?

The machine is making a clunking noise on tumble drying but I can't get the top off to see what is happening. In the past on different models all I had to do was remove the two screws at the back and slide the cover off. On this model there are additional lugs in the middle (which I can ease out of their holes) but it is still attached at the front. Have I missed some screws somehere or do I just need to apply brute force and hopefully not damage the front display panel that it appears to be stuck to?

Thanks Nod.

A bit of brute force worked in the end. - Incidentally the noise was caused by the dryer mechanism having worked loose.

I did it to my WF860G by removing the two screws at the back and pulling hard from the back. The lid makes a terrible noise as if it's breaking, but it just snapped out.

Don't lift it up more than 1cm or so, or you might break the plastic catches.

You push it in the same way to put it back on. It goes back a lot easier.

However, if you break it, don't blame me!
