when i switch on my computer i get a window saying windows defender has failed to initialise and to activate it manually. But i can't activate it manaully at all. I've searched for help and support but nothing is working. What can i do?

i suggest that you totally uninstall it, reboot and install it again fresh. Clearly something is wrong with it as the program is fully automated. If the problem repeats itself then you may have conflicting software (some games hate it). An internet search on yahoo with the error message should give you some answers...
