power supply contact problem?

Hi,

i have a contact problem where the power supply socket contacts the motherboard. The symptom is intermittant contact loss, when you move (or even just touch) the power supply cable near the socket at the rear of the computer. Can anyone point me to a detailed design of the socket and its contact to the motherboard, so that i can try to figure out where to solder or glue it? It is a HP pavilion xz185, but anything would be fine.
Thanks a lot,

Check it's not the connector on the end of the cabel (or the cable itself) before considering taking the case of your laptop apart. I had this once with a Toshba - I just snipped and soldered a new connector. Mind you, finding a connector of the right specification can be troublesome. If it is the connector, sometimes it can be best to check Ebay for a complete power brisk and cable.
