How can I fix my Panasonic double feature dvd/vhs player?

My dvd seems to stop and stay still for a few seconds, then it will start again. It does this through out the whole movie. What do I need to do?

Possibly sled motor (which moves optical pick-up across tracks) is sticking. Maybe dust particles stuck in the lubricant on the sled drive/shaft.
