There is a nut on each crank that secures it to the spindle. You should be able to tighten these with a socket spanner.
If these nuts are tight then the problem lies in the bottom bracket, and means either the adjustable cup is loose, or the bearings and/or the cups have worn down.
Either way, for the time and effort involved for a novice, plus the purchase of a crank removal tool and a cup removal tool that you'll probably only ever use the once, it's probably easier to get your local shop to do it.
