Remove a tape?

My tape is stuck inside the recorder and will not eject
Schneider SV616 Model
T Walsh, April 2007
Open the door to the VHS player manually, it tips up. It should not be necessary to exert any pressure, if it is, I do not know how to help you. It has been my experience that this door opens with almost no pressure.

I use a paper thin, plastic, six inch, promotional ruler, but perhaps a credit card would do if necessary.

Press eject, slip the thin plastic between the top of the VHS cassette and the machine. Actually it is between the door and the cassette, but at this point you can not see the door.
You may need to press eject again, and it should eject as usual.

You may not want to use this cassette again.

I do not know why, but if you change the outside case of the offending video cassette you can use it without a problem. You may want to practice on a video that is no longer operational. You can change the case without much more than a small screw driver. When you get to the real thing try not to touch the tape except on the clear lead. Disposable Latex gloves will help, but I do not know how much it would take to remove the information on the tape.
