hoover steam vac not sucking?

my hoover steam vac is not sucking all the water up as it is supposed to. I have checked the hose but cannot determine if or how to fix it. Anyone ever heard of this being a defect? When it was new it sucked fine, but I have only used it for about 2 years.

I also had the fracture of the attachment hose. I just used some duct tape and sealed it and now it works like new. WOW... thanks steamVacman... no more renting I can use my hoover again!!!

I have experienced problems with the attachment hose becoming fractured where conneted to the vacume ,depleating the suction. After removing the hose and creating a makeshift cork. plactic wrap and a rubberband,"cork for the cleanwater/solution dispensor tube" the suction has apparently been restored.

if there is a plastic shield over the area where the water gets sucked up, remove it and clean the edges. i have had situations where the channels on the sides of this shield get gunked up by hair, fiber, dirt, etc, which greatly reduces the suckiness of the vac. which really sucks! ha ha. clean really well around the rubber gasket, if there is one. good luck!
