I'm not famililar with this line of iRiver, however with mine (H10). An easy fix to most problems is to just update the firmware. Even if an update is not available you can still update to the same data, just ask it to format the drive. This returns it to factory settings, just the same as formatting your computers HDD. Visit the iRiver site for the updates.
