I got so frustrated with not being able to find comprehensive instructions on replacing the N35 battery that I wrote some myself.
Have a look at http://www.marsden29.plus.com/N35/N35.html and please give me some feedback by email if you find them useful or if you have any comments.

Thanks George. Your instructions got me sorted.

I have just replaced the battery in my n35, the advice given by ACE ace was ok but try using a thin blade to slide under the battery to cut away the sticky tape as mine was so well stuck if I had tried to pull the battery off i'm sure it would have cracked the board. mine works a treat now.

It is easy to do. Look at the back and there are two discs at the bottom corners of the unit. Use a sharp point to remove the sticky tabs protecting the screws and remove the screws. Flick up the GPS arial and there are 2 more. The case will now prise apart. Once open there are 2 more screws to release the circuit board. 1 bottom right and 1 middle left. Remove this and the board will come out. The GPS arial connector simply flicks off. Take care not to pull the wire. The battery is on the back of the circuit borad. Disconnect the power connector and the battery can be pulled off it is only stuck with tape. Stick the new battry in place with double sided tape and connect the power supply. This will only plg in one way. Reassemble the unit in reverse order.

If it is anything like a Mio 168 there are 4 tiny philips screws on the rear of the unit which you undo.
ther are then 2 or 3 clips (part of the front cover) which you need to unclip from the base - insert a very fine bladed (precision) screwdriver in the release it.The battery will then be obvious as will the mini connector which just unplugs - plug in your new one and away you go.
