AC not working?

I have a Ford Focus ZETEC 1.6 02 Reg. The Air conditioning is not working what could be the problem my first thought is could the gas need topping up.

It's a good thought. If you are in the UK Air con repairs are not a DIY proposition though because of regulations about the gas. So you'll need to go to a specialist.
