Is high water pressure dangerous?

Worcester 240 - our water pressure dropped and heater cut out. We opened the refill tap (probably for too long), pressed reset button and system is working again, but pressure is showing 2.5 bar, and I have been told it should not be more than 1.5. Is this dangerous, and how can it be lowered?

I agree with hi-spec -- system is designed for abour 1 bar normal working pressure -which will rise to about 1.5 bar when hot -any more of a rise indicates insufficient expansion -if this happens could be a faulty pressure vessel ..

its not danerous, release some water from a radiator bleed valve that will bring pressure down.
