Radiator Valves?

Can someone explain to me how to replace my radiator valves..is there and soldering involved or is it a matter of remove and replace (not THAT simple i know). I know my pipe size is 15mm but im not sure about the valves themsleves, the rads are quite old. how do i determine the valve size too?
Thank you

depends on state of system. sometimes you can be lucky sometimes not.

Thanks for the reply. My main concern if there was any soldering involved because im pants at soldering. I got a quote from one plumber to replace 8 valves @ £250 supplied & fitted...bit out of my budget if i can do it myself.

rad valves are all the same is you want 15mm, just ask for 15mm or it will say on the packet.
there is no soldering involved providing the olives on the pipework are ok. and you don't need to fit a new section of pipe because the olive has been squashed into pipe.
as for the radiator tails in to the radiator they can be a problem if years of paint on them. sometimes you can get by without changing them use the old ones. if you have to change them you will need some ptfe tape.

don't forget to drain the system, or you'll need a mop
