Baxi Combi 80 Eco?

The pilot light is out in my boiler and the normal reset switch on the front isn't working. I know there is a switch inside but it is so well hidden that the last time this happened my corgi registered plumber couldn't find it. I paid for Baxi engineer to come out and he stuck his arm in and reset it. I just can't find it but do not want to wait a week with no hot water for the Baxi engineer to come out again. Does anyone know how I can find this switch?

I just returned from holiday in January to a cold house, I had turned off the gas supply. Turned it back on and got a red warning light showing on the boiler front panel. I could not locate any reset button inside the cover. So, looked on this site and found that on my boiler (80ECO) the reset button was on the front panel. You have to turn dial passed the water and heating mark to reset. It even has an "R" for reset showing......soooo simple in the end. Thanks to everyone for the help!!

Hi, been reseting my 80 Eco infrequently for some time now. It used to trip when the dhw was used. Had a baxi engineer out and he wanted to change the PCB to make the pump run on. After bleeding the radiaters on a regular basis for a while, this problem went away. Now it trips when the burner goes out once thermostat temp is reached (on central heating side). Any ideas what could cause the problem? Should the pump always run on for a short while once the burners gone out? Any help at all would be appreciated. Cheers

It's in larger parts.
Here is a link to installation manual, look up the "Safety Thermostat".
I just found the switch and now my boiler is on, thanks to this website!!
Good luck!

I am a bit stuck, trying to locate the internal reset can't see it - is it inside the white front box where the dials are or inside the larger where the pump is ?

catherine, January 2011
Ours must be a a newer model Baxi 80Eco , as our plumber (non-heating engineer), our 2 builders & myself failed to locate the reset button inside the boiler. Proper heating engineer came out and reset it using the swtich on the front in 30 seconds (the one that is either "off"/"hot water only"/"hot water and radiators"), you twist it past the "hot water and radiators" option and it reset... £35 lesson learnt (it's xmas it could have been a lot more expensive).
Nothing about this switch in the manual either...

pressure keeps rising and know for sure its not the 2 ball valves, seems to happen more after running the water

Excellent. Really helpful. I've just reset mine - but was wondering why mine has had to be reset three times in one week - twice by an engineer and this last time by me??? Anyone have any ideas???

TBOY, November 2010
turn off the boiler first, open the front and on the lefthand side you can see a vertical pipe behind the control panel with two sensors on it, on the lower sensor in the middle there is a gray button this is the internal reset (overheat switch) push this button then fasten the front back on and turn the boiler back on this should work for you until the baxi engineer comes out

RACHAEL ITUAH, May 2008
Thank You!
I just had the same issue and it sorted me out a treat
I no longer fear the old shower anymore

J C, April 2008
the switch is between the two sensors, which are connected to the copper pipe,it's like a grey plastic stuff, press it,that's all.

dabuy, May 2007
The reset switch is the over-heat thermostat and if it keeps tripping out you need to have the fault traced and rectified instead of keep resetting it.The book that comes with the boiler will tell you where the overheat thermostat is.
