How do i release (New) stiff U.P.V.C sash-windows and Patio doors?

I have recently had installed several new Rehau Heritage sliding sash windows and patio doors. The doors are so stiff they take enormous force to open them and some of the top sashes and some of the bottom sashes in the windows are stiff.

The house had lots of moisture in it as it was a new build.

One caller said i would need all of the windows and doors taken out as they all needed at least 5-50 m.m between the wall and frame! He also said it will get worse as the summer comes as U.P.V.C expands and contracts!

Some were quite tight on installation, but the installer said it was fine.

I do not know who to believe anymore. Can anybody advise me.?..Thankyou.

Hi Mary, I am a window installer with over 10 years of experiance with sash windows! It sounds to me like the sash windows u have had installed may have been too tight on the width, therefore causing a slight bowing effect in the outer frame, which would then in turn explain the sliders being so stiff to open. Sorry if this is bad news. as for your patio doors, if they are very big they will naturally be stiff to open and close as the glass is very heavy! if any problems contact me on redevil2_81@hotmail.com! hope i have helped you in some way. regards Chris Lomas.
