How can I fix my Xeror Model # XRX-15X?

My shredder just makes noise and will not shred any papers.

Xerox shredder with stripped gears. Where can i get parts? It seem like China is destroying the world with it's cheep no frills products that are manufactured in rickety factories with no quality control. I hope airplane parts aren't manufactured in China also.

It's likely that the drive gears for the shredder have lost their teeth. When inquiring to Xerox at their technical support # 1-866-88Xerox, They will inform you that the unit was made in China and they do not stock parts. You might press them and ask who in China does have the parts or where to get them in the US. Or you could ask them how they can live with themselves selling you a piece of cheap crap that doesn't have any replacement parts.

It sounds like the plastic gear/sprocket has been stripped. You will need to contact Xerox and see if they have replacement parts available. If not, do a general search under google for plastic gears / sprockets you should find something value of the part should be no more than $5.00 Good Luck

My shredder was doing the same thing. I spoke with Xerox Shredder Repair at 866-889-3769 and they informed me that they used to "replace" the broken shredders sent to them, rather than "repair" them. Now, however, Xerox has discontinued their shredder division altogether so replacement or repair is out of the question. She mentioned that if I knew someone that could repair small motors that would be my only option. I know my local Staples said that if I bought it within the year, I could exchange it for something else. As mine is 3 years old, I bought a new one altogether. Good Luck!
