How can i fix my Matsui 1410 Combi TV/DVD?

When you power the TV up the it comes on in Stanby Mode, when you press one of the channel buttoms the light changes for a split second then it goes back to standby. Once recently i have managed to get in to turn on, after about 5 mins it turned itself to Standby again. Not been able to get it off Standby since.

Help!

This is the worst TV I have ever owned, to get it off standby, you MUST press the TV button first, then a channel button, I always press 1, this should take it off standby, BUT if it's going back on stanby after 5 mins, then the auto shutdown feature is probably on and set for 5 mins, this is even more diffuicult to sort, press the right hand button on the front of the tv and a menu appears, I think its in features, to get there u need to scroll to it by using the + and - buttons on the RIGHt side, then to set on and off use the LEFT side buttons. If you press the wrong button it all goes back to default.
If anyone can tell me how the hell you get onto the DVD without turning the fecking thing on and off about 3 dozen times and then inserting a DVD at the presice moment for it to work please let me know, you would think it was simple, just press the big DVD button on the top right, but NO!!!!, that would be way too easy, so then you think, well maybe its press that followed by the HUGE select buton in the middle of the direction buttons, but NO! oh and if you do decide to try this method, do not under any circumstances press and of the direction buttons or you WILL throw the TV out the fecking window as it goes to sleep mode and you can't get off it without turning it all off again and starting from scratch, and when that happens and you do finally get a DVD to start up again you have to go thru all the copywrite warnings in every language on planet earth and then some
