My Vauxhall Tigra (2000) is overheating and wont cool down?

the car overheated yesterday, steam bellowing out of the engine, left it over night so the engine would cool down and tried to put coolant in only for the coolant to start bubbling! Have a feeling it might be the temperature thermometer thats up the left, has anybody had a similar problem and could help?

Had this problem with my vectra overheating and if the fan does not kick in to cool down the engine then it is the radiator fan switch which would be found on the radiator near the top between the resevior and the rad ( well is on the vectra) very straight forward to remove and replace, hope this helps

Hi,
Your coolant would not be bubbling because it was hot after being left all night to cool the engine down. As you put coolant in it finds its way down into the system, displacing the air, which bubbles up into the expansion tank. You must find out what caused the overheat before going on any journeys though, try the thermostat as a starting point.
Cheers now
