Hi, I'm yet another victim of the dreaded E168 error code which mysteriously does not appear anywhere in the manual troubleshooter guide. Well of course it doesn't - it's a good wee earner for lots of people! I've been decorating my hall and had taken off the thermostat so surprise, surprise, that was what the first engineer attributed the problem to - he fiddled around with things and got the boiler working again, ot water and heating but by 6 hours later it was back to E168!!!! I reset, nothing! I switched off and on again, still no change. So, in anger I switched to off and went to sleep. In the morning phoned for an engineer to come out, he could come the next day. Went all day without hot water or heating, finally had a go again, switched boiler on again, ran the hot water tap and wow, it seemed to work for hot water anyway. Had my first wash in 2 days! Next day engineer comes out already having been told it is an E168 error and immediately tells me it is a problem with the pcb. At this point it is working and he does not touch it at my request. It will take about a week for the pcb to arrive and it has to be ordered. Zzzzzzzz. Heard it all before. I feel like I am a character in some tired old farce...
I dont know who to complain to about this, is there a gas services ombudsman lol.......wish there was!!
