You will have to remove the entire centre console. I did this on my 99 RL. Pop out the plastic trim around the gear stick. Remove the screws that are exposed. There are two triangle carpeted flaps under the driver and passenger leg space on either side of the console. Pop those out and undo the screws that are exposed. The entire centre console should now pull forward and out. I took mine to the local dealer and asked on e of the technitions to tell my what to do.Good luck.
