kernel memory - what is it?

Can someone please explain what KERNEL memory is mine has 58000 total and 50000 paged leaving 8000 unpaged - do I need a fix to free some up?

It helps if you say what your OS is? e.g. Linux or flavour of UNIX.?

Second I'm not sure either what your problem is?

A simple answer would be: That is where your OS Kernel resides, some of it in real memory and some of it paged.
