How can I fix Renault Laguna RT 1800?

I have a 1987 Renault Laguna RT. It keeps draining power from the battery, no matter how much or often I charge it. I bought a new battery a few weeks ago, alternator was checked and reported to be ok but the problem persists. Could it be an electrical fault/short? If so, how can I detect it?
