my x-box drive door won't open, just recieve message saying needs service. started as occasional problem but then failed completely

The motor has probably either died or been jammed (If you hear a buzzing noise when you try to eject a disk then it is probably jammed). If it is just jammed then you could possibly remove the foreign object, but if the motor has died it would probably be best to buy a new drive (you can get them for about 30 bucks on Ebay).
