Same problem but how do you get the switch out, once you take the cover out? Cannot see any screws - does it just pull out, or do you have to take the whole assembly off the wall to get at the back where there may be some screws?

The on/ off Button is just a loose plastic moulding which when depressed moves the real switch behind.
Chances are the button you press is not actually making full contact with the real switch. The real switch has a latching action. If it is partially depressed it comes on for a minute but does not latch, hence the problem. This is not a fault with the unit. Typically the cause is the casing has been refitted but not properly so the button you press does not make full latching contact. Always isolate the power completely when the cover is removed .

sounds like the latch on the ON/OFF switch is not working.
Any competent DIYer should be able to replace it for you,
either the swich itself or depending on the model possibly the solenoid,
SHOWER DOCTOR gives parts diagrams and prices for starters,
hope this helps
