overload scrolls across screen?

when I turn on my power button on my home stereo receiver, it says overload...switch power off.
Does anyone know why this would happen?

YES, UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE THAT SAME PROBLEM
A FEW THINGS CAN CAUSE IT TO SAY OVERLOAD.
LIGHTNING STRIKE DAMAGED IT. THATS WHAT HAPPENED TO MINE
YOU MIGHT HAVE THE SPEAKERS WIRED WRONG, OR YOU HAVE TOO MANY SPEAKERS HOOKED UP TO ONE CHANNEL.
I ALSO DID THAT. ON MY SURROUND SOUND.

YOU MIGHT BE TURNING THE VOLUME UP WAY TOO HIGH, AND IT IS SENSING ONE OF YOUR SPEAKERS GETTING READY TO BLOW, AND IT TRIPS A RELAY INSIDE TO CUT OFF THE POWER TO PREVENT DAMAGE.
I ALSO DID THAT.
IF I AM RIGHT, WHEN YOUR OVERLOAD SCROLLS IT HAPPENS RIGHT AFTER YOUR VOLUME STOPS.
WHAT I MEAN IS THE RADIO STOPS PLAYING , AND THE OVERLOAD SHOWS UP.
IF YOU TURN ON YOUR RADIO, AND THEN STAND CLOSE TO IT, RIGHT BEFORE THE OVERLOAD SCROLLS YOU WILL HEAR THE RELAY INSIDE "CLICKING"
MY GUESS IS THAT LIGHTNING HIT NEARBY, AND DAMAGED YOUR SURROUND SOUND FEATURES , LIKE MINE. THE RADIO PLAYS FINE BUT IF I TURN IT UP A LITTLE LOUD IT OVERLOADS.
ALSO IN MINE, IF I TRY TO WATCH A MOVIE AND CHANGE TO "THEATRE" "HALL" ETC.
THE DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING " EFFECTS DO NOT WORK
GOOD LUCK.
