My dishwasher (Part No. 3380957) is a seven year old Kenmore Ultra Wash with push button controls that does not empty the dirty water very well, although I can empty it by hitting the "cancel-drain" button a couple extra times at the end of the wash. Any idea what is the problem and the solution?

I was able to fix this after all. The drain line was plugged at the garbage disposal by stuff that I thought should have gone through the disposal. I determined to check for blockage at the spot where the drain line enters the disposal because in googling this issue, I came across someone who had installed his own dishwasher which did not drain until he knocked out the drain plug that all new disposals have where the dishwasher is to be attached. Google is helpful with these things.
