My Acer 2480 notebook's screen died, how can I fix it??

I tried all the brightness and display solutions in the user guide for troubleshooting... nothing, powered down, waited restarted, only faint pictures of the Acer symbol startup and some shadows at times. No picture. Took it to the techie at Staples, no luck. Please help if this has happened to you and you have a quick remedy that i have not already tried? Otherwise it's back to the manufacturer.

Problem with that is if you have a 15.4 or 17" you might as well buy a new laptop due to the high cost of screens that size.

sounds like the backlight has died for some reason. if you can't change it on the software level by adjusting brightness then I'm afraid the backlight/the screen might need to be replaced.
