SONY CMT-HPX7 Micro Hi-Fi : Disc Will Not Eject?

Have had the Sony CMT-HPX7 Micro Hi Fi unit for approximately 2 1/2 years. The problem is that the CD unit will not eject , and there are two discs trapped within unit.

This problem was originally seen within three months of purchase and was repaired under its original one year guarantee, which has now finished.

I am in a dilemma - Is this a design fault with this Hi-Fi or can the problem be resolved in a straight forward manner.

Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

yes i too have this stereo and it worked good for the first 2 years, then oneday i opened it, and had 3 cd's jammed into one slot..after that when i put one in, it got stuck in there, and to this day i cant get it out.. around christmas time the door was opening, the cd was playing, but i just had no luck getting it out..now nothing happens, it wont open, or play..i have done what you (peter) have said, about taking off the sides, and the front, and i can see the cd, but it seems to be jammed ontop of the tray..i will try what you have sugessted..and hope that works..if it does..thanks for the help peter..

That was excellent advice from Peter.
I too have a Sony CMT-HPX7 And the CD drawer keeps jamming.
It's definitely a design flaw as it's happened a couple of times already and by the sounds of things it's quite common.
First time I took it in for a $35 repair, but then a few months later it was jammed again.
Now I know how to fix it.
Thanks Peter.

I have the same unit and have been able to rescue the trapped CD's by manipulating the CD drawer left - right - up - down. The problem is alignment of the trays with the mechanism that loads and unloads CD's from the individual numbered trays (that slide out when you press "open") to the CD player itself. If the above doesn't help, you can remove the silver panel on both sides (held in by 4 small screws each side). In the black plastic just behind the silver tray cover you will see a hole and inside that hole (fairly deep) is a screw. Unscrew that screw on both sides and the silver tray cover will come off. From there, you can more easily manipulate the tray to get it to load the CD's from the CD player.
I haven't yet quite figured out how to get the CD's to load consistently... it seems to bind when trying to load a Cd that has been playing, back into the tray. If you have had an answer to your question that explains that, would you please post it here. Thanks.
