i have a advent 7081 xp laptop
laptop keyboard is fine but spacebar wont work tried
restoring and installing keyboard again but no joy.have to use on screen keyboard

An external keyboard was suggested and I searched BEST BUY yesterday. The price was $20.00, made in China; I looked at a flash drive also, and also made in China. Everything I ever own came from China and either did not work or definitly could not be repaired. I did noot buy either the keyboard or flash drive. Where can I get American made computer products at at least a reasonable price?

Sounds like a broken spacebar. As Advent is a DSG (Dixons/Currys/PC World) own brand you need to go to them for information about it. Try www.the techguys.com

If it does tune out to be a broken spacebar then usually the whole keyboard needs replacing. Alternatively you can buy an external keyboard in Tescos for about a fiver.
