how do i adjust my gear shifting?

the gears switch but need an extra push from the shifter. not actually shifting but pushing to the point of almost shifting.

This is caused by the cable stretching.
There is a screw mechanism at the end of the cable sheath where it enters the rear derailleur. Turn this anti-clockwise about 2 revolutions and this should take up some of the cable slack.
