moffat refridgerator about 10 years old?

My fridge starting showing signs of rusting on the door first. Looked something like a stain that certain spaghetti sauces will leave. Continued to spread, sometimes in patches like little freckles, then some in streaks. I talked to the retailer and their reply was that the gov't was promoting the use of recycled metals in appliance manufacturing and because I live near the salt water (I live on a small island) the humidity /salt water was accelerating the process. Has anyone else,American or Canadian had this problem?

Can't resolve problem with anyone---- so I painted it! Easy, easy , easy!

well what do we do? Is Moffat going to help or are we stuck with a new old looking fridge?

Ash, July 2008
Jo-Ann I'm so glad to finally hear that my problem appliance isn't the only one. Sadly though I have not resolved the problem, the rust is getting worse with the humid weather and I can't seem to find anyone that will do anything for me or even steer me in the right direction. I'm ready to photograph it and send it to a consumer group if I can find one that is not so backlogged that I may have to wait ??? long. How about we try and contact Moffat?

...boy does your question ring true for me, same age of fridge....same make and same rust stains.....only thing not the same is the fact that I do not live by a body of water...so salt is not the issue here
How did you resolve this issue??
