This fault could be condensation on the printed cucuit board or a dry soildered joint or loose plug conector on the board or even a faulty board .Did you know that all hoover washers have a full 3 year or 5 year parts guarantee weather you took one out or not at the point of sale some times its cheaper to pay a call out charge than it is to buy the parts.Iwould guess that a pc board would be over £80.00 plus fitting etc and Hoover also would guarantee the parts they fit Hope this helps
