How do I fix simpson aquarius 706?

I have a simpson aquarius 706 the the agiator only goes one way . Is this only a minor problem ie: some type of relay or can you suggest how to fix the problem ?????

The problem is most likely the solenoid which controls the brake/spin. If this solenoid is the fault, the other symptom will be that when you open the lid during the spin cycle the bowl will keep spinning rather than being stopped and locked. You normally hear a loud "clunk" which is the solenoid activating. Disconnect the appliance from the power, remove the back panel of the washing machine and you will see the solenoid under the bowl almost straight in front of you. If the rod coming from the solenoid cannot be moved then this is the problem. There is a split pin at the end of the solenoid that needs to be removed first. Disconnect the 2 power lugs. Remove the 2 bolts using a socket spanner and the solenoid can then be removed. Replace in the reverse order. A new solenoid cost me A$50.
