How can I change a door handle in Servis M3022/m washing machine?

I broke a door handle of my washing machine and I have bought a new door handle but I do not know how to change it. I unscrew the door off the washing machine but I do not know what to do next.

Here is how I did it:

If you have already undone the 3 screws holding the door on the machine and removed the door, means that you have all the tools you need. If your screwdriver is with magnetic tip, it helps when you are fixing the door back.

With a knife you will be able to split the plastic door round frame into two halves. You do it from the outside edge, and you will find the knife can be inserted between the two halves of the frame easily. Moving around inch by inch you can force the frame halves apart. It takes little effort, don’t worry about the glass, it is fixed in the frame, so can not fall out.

The rest you will see is straight forward, now you have access to the two screws holding the mechanism in place. Study how the springs are fixed, you do exactly the same arrangement otherwise it will not work. You can recover the broken parts as assembled on the shaft, so you can give a close look.

You assemble the spare parts now in the same way. DO NOT fix the white plastic handle itself at this time, that will have to be the last step. (if you do, you can not remove it any more and you will not be able to fit the frame again.)

Then you fit the mechanism back in the frame, see how the springs are positioned. Check if it works properly, check if the springs react properly or not. Lift and release the handle.

If it works well, you can fix the round plastic “cover” of the frame (the half you split apart). You make sure the plastic handle extension of the internal mechanism turns up on the outside, a little tricky but you can do it. Make sure it is centered in the frame opening, then press the cover onto the frame.

Now you fix the white plastic handle. You can look at the broken part you have, and see how it slips on and gets firmly fixed in its place. Before pushing it fully, check if it comes well centered in the opening of the frame. If it does, push it fully in place. You can try to lift and release the handle, now it should be ready and working.

Fixing the door back on the machine should not be a problem, you may need both of your hands and somebody to help holding the door in position while you are busy with the 3 screws. The screwdriver with magnetic tip would make it easier at this time.

Be careful with the knife, don’t cut your hand.

Good luck.
