How can I fix my ford 6000 single cd player?

I have had to renew the battery on my ford mondeo and although I have the code for the radio/cd player I don't know how to input it. I can get the code onto the radio screen but don't know what to do next. I have been given the wrong manual! It is a ford 6000 cd rds eon

press 1 until you get to the right digit through to no 4 press 5 to store

If I remember rightly you use buttons 1 to 4 to enter the four code numbers and then button 5 to activate it
