i had a wieless connection with xp but now i run vista it wont work

You need new drivers for wireless dongle on Vista, Vista 32bit is not the same as the 64 bit. Some wireless devices dont yet have drivers for vista, check yours on the manufacturers web site.
I know Belkin dont have drivers for 64 bit Vista yet because that is what I needed, I found the D-Link worked fine.

I think that you need to put a whole lot more information about your problem here. Like what do you mean by "wireless box", etc. Try anew post because this one will look closed now.
