How do i replace the ignition coils on a 2001 scenic?

Hi
I need to replace the ignition coils on a 2001 scenic 1.6/16 V. I have the correct parts but is it an easy job?
thanks

Hello Paul, Replacing the pencil coil on the Scenic is a simple operation. Unplug the electrical connector on the coil you're changing and undo the single Torx screw holding the coil in place. Pull the coil upwards to disconnect from the spark plug and remove. Reverse the procedure when fitting the new coil. Most coil failures are attributed to water ingress and can also affect the spark plugs, it's probably a good idea to replace these at the same time. For this you will need a long reach plug socket with a rubber insert (to grip the plug) to remove them. If you don't have this type of socket you can use the standard type to partially unscrew the plug and then use a short section of rubber hose, this can be heater hose or garden water hose providing it's a tight fit over the plug's ceramic insulator. You can use the same method to install your new plugs and then finally tighten with the plug socket. Scenic cylinder heads are aluminium, so be careful not to overtighten or cross thread the plugs on fitting. Hope this helps, Chris.
