how can i fix my speakers?

ok so my speakers are plugged in correctly and you can hear static and everything but there is no volume then i go to control panel and check on the soundthing and it says there are no speakers yet i checked the on the sound card and it says there is no problem. i just put in a new windows disc because my computer wasnt working and everything is fine exempt i have no speakers

If youve reinstalled windows, then you will be missing the sound card driver which will be on the motherboard CD if you have one. Otherwise have a look what sound card it is or what motherboard it is (if its onboard sound) and do a google search for the driver.

Check on Control Panel>Sound Speech And Audio> Sound and Audio
and make sure that your windows audio device for playback is set to the one you want. Also install all the drivers.
