service required epsom c46 printer?

my printer has a message that reads parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life.
when i take this to epsom dealer he says he needs to reset the clock, takes 2 mins and i get charged 15.00. any ideas ?

It is likely that the ink absorber pads (felt pads) under the carriage are "life expired" ie the machine has counted a set amount of cleaning cycles and you are expected to have an engineer replace the pads and reset the count. Bearing in mind the cost of service engineers, you can either dump your machine or if you feel lucky, enter service mode and reset the count. I would advise against the latter as you do not know how full these pads are and you could have a spillage of ink. Hope this helps.
